Monday Mumblings Takes A Bowling Lesson
I took a chunk of Friday afternoon off to join my mother at the Lunch 'N' Bowl coaching session last Friday. We both got a lot of good out of it. So what's a bowler with a 175 or so average doing getting coaching? Well, I can always learn more.

But boy, was I aching afterward. We bowled four games and I was on my feet the entire time. My high game was 188, but we spent a lot of time working on my spare shots and adjusting to changing lane conditions. These are two of my bigges...

In which I bite Karma back
Today was ... interesting. After last week's fall at the foul line, I went to my morning league half expecting all sorts of trouble, and was not disappointed. My first two games were awful. I had four splits in the second game alone. And every time I went through my approach my bruises reminded me that they were far from healed. I came thisclose to sitting out the last game but decided to stick it through.I was glad I did. I came out with a 198.

In Which Julie Manages to NOT Talk About ... You Know
Yes, there are other things going on in my life. Still working on a web site. Every time I think I'm at the end, another thing crops up. Ah, well. Such is the way those things go.

I finished Leviathan. It's a rollicking good YA Steampunk adventure.

And today was bowling day. Apparently my breakfast didn't agree with me and the morning series is something best not mentioned. Tonight though, I managed a 617. How does someone with an average pushing 180 not bowl more 600 serie

Are we having fun, yet?

I don't think I am.

My laptop computer seems to be going a bit wonky. I knew I should have bit the bullet and picked up one of those $500 laptops at Fry's a couple of weeks ago. Perhaps some maintenance will help. I know there's an 80 GB drive in there, and the system thinks it's a 55 GB drive, and that it's full. I seem to be having trouble uninstalling programs. Well, I suppose if the hard drive is failing, then that would be less money than buying a new laptop. That would ...

Lucky Seven!

I'm not big on lucky numbers, really. I'm told seven is supposed to be lucky. This morning I checked my wallet before I left for bowling and found seven dollars. It was just enough to cover my initial expenses for the morning.

Today was sweeper day in my morning bowling league, and I always put in with a few people on doubles entries. I partnered up with seven people with my seven dollars. I know some folks who partner up with nearly everyone in the league. I can't afford to do that. ...

I ache, therefore I am!
I am dog tired, and the day is only half over. I bowled six games this morning. Yes, SIX games. This is the last day of regular bowling for the summer season. (Next week is payout and a sweeper, which is bowling for fun - and a few bucks.) Wonder of wonders, our team was three games out of first place. The last week is a position round. This means the first place team bowls the second place team, the third place team bowls the fourth place team, and so on. We took three games, which tied us for ...

As the philosopher Jagger said...
You can't always get what you want.

But sometimes you get what you need.

Bowling was interesting this morning. Struggled the first game and then ended up with a 197 - just one pin under my average. Next game I strung the first five frames (strikes) and then had an open. Ended up with a 227. The third game was up and down, and I closed with a 192 for a 592 series.

I wanted that 600, but I needed to string some strikes.

Apropos of Jagger:

Sigh
I know I signed up for the Round Robin list this week and my comment apparently got lost in the ether. Or eaten by Internet faeries. Or something.

Oh, well.

Bowling was not too good today. The new scoring machines are in, and they are very nice. This morning the lanes were completely blocked up with oil and I couldn't get the ball to do anything. I soaked the ball in hot soapy water for a couple of hours to draw the built-up oil out of the ball. Oil, you ask? Oil is the main componen...

Some days I wonder why I bother
Bowling did not go well this morning. One game was a whopping 50 pins under my average.

Honestly, it was just one of those mornings. We all struggled to find a line. A bad series is a disappointments, but I have to remind myself why I do this: To get out of the house, talk with other adults, and get a little exercise. Otherwise, I wouldn't move from the computer. That is NOT a good thing.

The bowling center is undergoing another round of renovations. Last summer they put in a new ai...

If you thought the peanuts were creepy...
I was going to title this If you thought my nuts were creepy... but that's just so wrong.

You can blame it on two more entries to the Disturbing Food Mascots section. I'm still working out some of the navigation kinks, but it'll get there.

Bowling was ... interesting. I refer you to last week's post about lane conditions for a prime...
