The Return of the Honkin' Big Aloe Vera Plant

Fresh when it gets here from Julie Barrett

At last, one of my other aloe plants got big enough to take over the throne! I lost the previous Honkin' Big Aloe Vera Plant a couple of winters ago. We'll see how well this one does.

Yes, I was out on the patio, repotting plants. It was one of those "one thing leads to another" kind of days. The heat is so bad that I've lost a few plants. The patio umbrella (which would provide shade) is broken. I decided the best thing to do would be to rearrange some items on the patio so the plants that did worst in in the heat would take less of the direct sun. While I was at it, I discovered that a few plants had become rootbound, which was why I had to water them constantly. I moved them to larger containers. Once they get established in the larger pots I shouldn't have to water as much.

I plan to make an expedition out for a new umbrella later today. Found what appears to be a good deal at Garden Ridge, but I'll want to inspect it in person.

And yes, I did put on a truckload of sunscreen and wear a hat with a large brim. I also did most of the work in the shade. And yes, I'm drinking plenty of water, and am not dehydrated. But I am going to just kick back and rest for a few minutes.
