Weekend Assignment: To Tweet or Not to Tweet
Fresh (almost) daily from
Do you Tweet? Why or why not?
Yes, I tweet. More than I should on some days. Usually, I'm reading tweets. I have client that runs on my second display and I try to keep it on top.
I love Twitter as much as it frustrates me. I've had to unfollow and/or block some folks who started off interesting and then suddenly changed into non-stop self-promotion machines of the most annoying kind. Oh, yes: Twitter is a very useful tool for promotion, but, like any other tool, it can hurt you if you use it wrong.
I use it to keep up with some news in various areas of interest and to communicate with other writers. Will I make a sale because of Twitter? I'll be very surprised if I do. Right now I'm having fun simply conversing with some people and watching others. The cool thing about Twitter is that it is different things to different people.
Extra Credit: If you use Twitter, how many people follow you? How many do you follow?
I have 240 followers and follow 235. It's a fairly even balance. And today I'm going through my list. I'm going to see who on the follower list I ought to pick up or drop. Some accounts get taken over by spammers, and some people just turn into spammers. Then their accounts get harvested by other spammers... Also, not all follow notifications make it to my inbox. I found today that someone I know is following me. Her tweets are protected, and normally I don't follow people like that back unless I know them. But I want to stay in touch with this person and feel bad that I missed the notification. I promise, B., if that had landed in my inbox, I'd have followed you back in a heartbeat. I rectified that error today.
So, if you want to follow me on Twitter, I'm @JulieB. And if I know you (or know you're a regular reader) and I don't follow back in a day or two, please leave a comment. It may be that I simply did not get the notification.
