Paul suggested that I get some iron pills. He was right, I suspect. I'm not going to put too fine a point on things, but let's just say that between the surgery and the various joys of womanhood (ahem) that I apparently had come down with a good case of what they called "iron poor blood" when I was a kid. I had Chris run me down to the store last night so I could get some iron pills. Yep, I was afraid to drive two blocks to the grocery store for fear of passing out. Pretty ugly, huh?
This morning I had enough energy to meet our coffee group for a trip to the Dallas Arboretum. Frankly, I wasn't sure that I'd be able to last more than an hour or two, but I managed the four-hour trip.
The Dallas Arboretum is situated on White Rock Lake and incorporates two old Dallas homes, the Camp House and the DeGolyer House. The surrounding grounds are covered in gardens - many of which change with the seasons. There were plenty of plants in bloom today. The best shots are in the set linked below.
We had lunch at a little restaruant in the DeGolyer House. The dining area is in a small room that was probably built to overlook the lake and gardens surrounding the house. It's a great spot for afternoon teas, and I plan to go back some day for a nice tea time repast. The meals were accompanied by baskets of freshly-baked breads. I had more bread than I should have, but the baked goods were absolutely delicious. Besides, I figure that I burned off lots of calories today.
Chris went along. I was surprised that he was interested in going, but he took a camera and spent some serious time composing pictures. Hopefully I'll be able to post some of his shots soon. One lady brought her Kindergartener along, and that kid probably shot close to 200 pictures on her little digital camera. Afterwards Chris said he wished he'd have had a digital camera when he was that age. Yep, so do I. Of course, I had to shake the virtual cane and point out that I didn't get a camera until I was his age - and that was a little 110 model that I paid for out of my babysitting money. My dad bought me my first 35mm camera when I was in college, and Paul made a darkroom in the laundry room of our first apartment. We've come along way since then, that's for sure!
We had a great time, but I'm absolutely bushed. Before I head off to bed, I'll post a couple of my favorites from today:
This was taken in a spot called the Fern Dell. Misters are going nearly all the time to keep the ferns moist.
Above is the downtown Dallas skyline. The body of water is White Rock Lake, which was once the main water supply for the city of Dallas.

I'm off for an early bed. Tomorrow is my follow-up exam, and beyond that I don't plan to do a lot other than post the Round Robin entry.
