Weekend Assignment: Jukebox Brain

Fresh when it gets here from Julie Barrett

Is there a song that you're particularly enjoying at the moment, that's on heavy rotation on your iPod, the CD player in your car, or just in your head? If so, what is it? If not, what was the last song you were really into?

Not particularly. I've spent a lot of time listening to Virgin Radio UK this week. The other day I found a Vista sidebar gadget that plays streams from UK radio stations. Virgin has a format and playlist similar to a local station, but I get tired of the local ads - all screaming car dealers, weight loss products, "enhancement" products, and so on. They have their share of annoying ads and heavy rotation songs that could use a rest, but at least it's something different.

And damn it, I want to get back to England, but this is the closest I'll get for some time.

Extra Credit: What song, if any, has been playing in your head today, and you really wish it would stop now?

Oh, just my inner nag, as usual. I wish it would stop, because .... no, that'll just devolve into a vintage whine.

Interesting. I've listened to a few BBC radio shows recently to get to Doctor Who guests, and haven't liked the music on any of them. Are we talking current music, or some oldies format or other?

As far as the BBC goes, I usually listen to BBC7 (the archive station) or Radio 4 (spoken word). I listen to the Virgin Radio feed for music. I suppose it's what they call Adult Contemporary - or disc jockeys and news, news and disc jockeys. Something to work by, mostly.
