I used to send a link for the relevant Snopes article back to the sender, but it seldom makes an impression. Now I routinely delete unopened absolutely everything from a former co-worker with a subject line that begins with Fwd or anything of the sort, sometimes as many as eight of them a day. Some are jokes, religious stuff, right wing screeds or fluffy pictures, but I'm sure there's got to be misinformation in there too. But after a while it just doesn't seem worth the effort of looking at it all to find out.
