Ah, yes. It's about that time.
This summons is called a "stand by" summons. Which means I won't know until after 5:00 today whether or not I have to appear. Fortunately, all I have to do is call a number or simply log on to the county web site. Believe me, I'm not complaining. I'd much rather find out the night before than to get up early, drive to the courthouse, find a parking space, go through the metal detector, file into the room, wait, and then be told I'm not needed. That's happened every single time I've been called, save for the time two years ago, when I was placed on a panel. That was a fascinating experience (some details here
All this means Chris gets to spend his last day before school starts sleeping in and hanging around the house. (What? Did you think I was going to shout that the house is empty, come rob the place? No, someone will be here. All day. Not to mention the trained attack cats.)
If you saw my sort of enigmatic tweet on Saturday and wonder what it meant, sorry. You don't get a solid explanation. It's actually a combination of things that have come to a head in the last week or so and kind of conspired to slap me in the face at a time when I was lacking in sleep.
Spent yesterday afternoon at a rehearsal for a radio show, then went out to dinner with good friend L. I made the mistake of ordering a dish made with fresh cream. It was delicious, but I'll pay for a couple of days.
Time to run out for a couple of errands. I need to mount some photos and am out of a few supplies. I'd like to get that finished by the end of the day.
