Monday Mumblings

It's been a couple of days of ups and downs.

Saturday afternoon my mother was injured in a crowd. She's going to be fine, but will ache for a while. What is it with people? Getting there first is more important than those pesky people in front of you - particularly if they're old enough to be your grandparent.

While we were in the ER (yep, she had to have a few stitches) Paul and I both started getting text messages from Chris.

I'm not sure I mentioned exactly why I took him to the airport last Monday. He was in Knoxville for the Destination Imagination Global Finals. Yes, after all these years he finally got to go. In addition to performing in the Improv challenge with his team from UTD, he took part in DI Extreme - a three-day intensive set of challenges.

His Improv team took first at Globals. His Extreme team took second in one of the two challenges that comprise Extreme, and came in third overall. He got off the plane yesterday with three medals.Of course, I'm proud of him. When he's awake I'll take a picture of him with his medals to post. He's going to have to do some serious catching up on sleep for the next few days. Part of the deal with Extreme is pulling at least one all-nighter. I'm not sure the kid had much sleep.

Then I woke up this morning to the news that Jeanne Robinson had passed away. Spider wrote a lovely blog post today. I dare you to read it without crying. Jeanne will be missed.

Spent the rest of the day working on another piece of steampunk cat art. I also have my schedule for SoonerCon, which I'll post shortly.

Hope you had a good holiday, and enjoy your week.
