New(ish) home page - now with random cats!

Fresh when it gets here from Julie Barrett

After many hours of wailing and gnashing of teeth, the newi(ish) home page is ready. Pardon the virtual dust over the last couple of days.

So, what's new? The basic layout is very much the same, although I've been tweaking several design elements. Most of what you don't see is "under the hood" changes to make the page render almost entirely with CSS elements and stylesheets. I hope this will work in all browsers.

And the cats? Ah, yes. The home page now features two categories of random pictures: One is cats, and the other is pictures from the journal. I needed something to balance out the layout, and that was it.

I still have a few minor tweaks to make, but most of the elements are in place. Let me know if you run into trouble.

Speaking of trouble, I'd like to thank James Mahaffey for pointing out several trouble spots he encountered with the tweaks on the journal page. I've replicated the new layout elements across all of the pages now.

So, how has your week been?
