Monday Mumblings
Fresh (almost) daily from

I hate having to spend my first semi-waking hours dealing with computer problems. Over the weekend I had intermittent USB issues. Some items worked. Others did not. Some would be recognized immediately. Others not. Some would get recognized for an instant, then snubbed by the computer. "Hi! ... Oh, it's you." Sort of like my last high school reunion.
The scanner would scan, but memory cards would not read. The external drive was recognized. My USB headphones charged. My color calibration device worked. The mouse, obviously, did what it was supposed to do. After much wailing and gnashing of teeth I tracked it down to the POS USB hub, which has given intermittent trouble ever since the XP days. I feel as though I have to point out the OS because while Vista has its share of problems, it shouldn't take the rap for hardware that was crappy in the first place.
I wrote Karen to tell her that I won't be participating in the photo shoot, but it looks like I can at this point - if I can get the energy to do so. I'm tired. I'm up, I'm doing chores, but I'm ready to just go back to bed. The breathing issues have a lot to do with it, I know. We're not under an air alert today, so perhaps that will be one less thing to deal with.
Ah, screw it. I'm going back to bed.
