Many web sites ae down today due to an outage at The Planet. Our site is one one of the large networks they serve. The SQL Server (which runs the blog and other portions of the site) is up, but the mySQL server is down. I'm no longer using mySQL on this site, but I am on another site hosted on this service.
Anyway, a LOT of sites have been hit by this outage, which was caused by a transformer fire at a server site. It's possible that there may be some outages today as they try to put things back together.
If you're having trouble accessing other web sites, this is probably the reason why.
