One More Airship Picture
I found this when I was cleaning the other day:
Isn't that lovely? It's German, and I believe it's an observation balloon. I'm not sure of the date, but I love the design.

Zeppelin in a Floating Hangar
This, alas, is the final airship image. And appropriately, it shows the back end of a zeppelin.
So as the hangar sails off into the German sunset, we bid auf wiedersehen to this batch of airship pictures. Previous shots are in this week's journal entries. Or, you can find them in the Nostalgia section.

Zeppelin L. Z. 12
Another in the series of airship postcards:
Pardon the quality, but in order to get some details on the airship to show up I had to sacrifice details and quality elsewhere. I think it was worth it, though.
According to the info I found online, the L.Z. 12 was built in 1912 and later renamed the ZIII. Here's another picture...

The Airship R-100
As promised, here's another airship postcard:
The UK-built R-100 took its first flight in 1929. More information at this Wikipedia article.

The Airship Akron
I found a nice little treasure trove of airship postcards today. This one is a reproduction of a 1911 card depicting the Airship Akron. This ill-fated ship went up in flames over New Jersey on July 12, 1912 during an attempt at a transatlantic crossing.
