A Few Links, A Little Commentary

A few self-publishing-related items crossed my screen this morning:

An author on Publishers Weekly and their reviews of self-published books. This one has me a bit flummoxed. I've read it several times and am still flummoxed. I don't quite classify it as a vintage whine, but I should point out that savvy readers know when the author has paid for a review.

Lynn Price of Behler Publications on the quest for excellence in self-publishing. Holy crap, yes. This is what I (and others) have been saying for years. If you're considering publishing your work yourself because of the number of rejections, read this.

Fortune on Amazon's knock-off problem. Capitalizing on a trend is one thing. Confusing the public in the name of making a buck is another. Gizmodo links to some of the books. One of those authors has over 100 books, some just a page long. Man, I'm doing it wrong. ;-)
